Congratulations to our under 13 NDSL Premier team who won their League on Sunday morning coming from behind to win 3-1 away at Ballymun United and add the 13 Premier title to the 12 Premier title that they won last year.

SKB Premier A reached the semi-final of the AUL Liddy Cup with a well deserved 3-1 win over O’Devaney-Dunard at a bitterly cold AUL Complex last night (Friday 23rd). Ahead 2-0 at half time through goals from Stephen Cantwell and Stephen Doyne they increased their lead in the last quarter through a “goal of the season” effort from Robbie Coombes when he spotted the ‘keeper of his line and drilled home an exquisite drive with his “weaker left foot” from half way. A defensive muddle five minutes from time resulted in O’Devanny pulling a goal back through an “og” but there was never any doubt about the final outcome

The semi-final is scheduled for next Friday (May 30th) in the AUL Complex at 7pm against Donneycarney F C.

SKB Premier A avenged a recent 1-2 league defeat by beating Seaview Celtic 4-3 at Shanowen Road on Tuesday night (13th) to reach the quarter-final of the AUL Liddy Cup. The main feature of an entertaining game was a hat-trick by SKB striker Stephen Cantwell – Stephen Doyne was the other SKB goalscorer. Their quarter-final opponents will be O’Devaney/Dunard in the AUL Complex on Friday May 23rd at 7.30pm. This Friday (16th) the first team play their penultimate lague game of the season away in the AUL Complex at 6-45pm where again for the third game running their opponents will be Seaview Celtic, their final league game of the season will be against Sheriff YC on a date to be decided.

Our 11A Sunday and 15 Premier both won their respective DDSL Cup finals in the AUL Complex on Sunday with wins over Cherry Orchard F C in the Fitzgerald Cup final and St Josephs Boys in the Conway Cup final.

Our 15 Premier needed extra time to overcome St Josephs Boys in the Conway Cup final they were ahead through an Aaron Townley goal in the first half but Joeys equalized on the stroke of half time, the second half failed to produce a goal but the introduction of Evan Pierce was decisive as he scored twice in extra time to secure a win in what was a poor game overall.

Our 11A Sunday produced a brilliant display throughout in the Paul Fitzgerald Cup final against Cherry Orchard F C coming from behind to win 2-1 and might have won by more – Ruairi Kinsella scored the first from a penalty with Ryan Thornton netting the winner. This game was one of the best games of the entire DDSL Cup finals weekend.

There was no joy for our three NDSL Premier teams in their cup finals at the Oscar Traynor Centre on Sunday each of them going down in games that they might have won had they converted all their chances – the 12 Premier were ahead in the Moran Cup final through a Conor Daly goal and might have added to that score but for some misses and excellent goalkeeping by the Corduff keeper who earned the Man of The Match award. Corduff equalized on the stroke of half time and added two further goals in the second half to win 3-1.

In the NDSL 15 Premier cup final SKB dominated the early proceedings against Corduff F C and looked as if they were on course to win the Martin Cup but the concessions of two quick goals midway through the first half gave them an uphill struggle and when they missed a second half penalty there was no way back and they lost 2-0.

The under 14 McKenna Cup final against Ratoath Harps F C produced 7 goals – Paddy Maloney (2) and Sean Breen scored the SKB goals but it was not enough to avoid being on the wrong end of a 3-4 defeat. Despite being on the losing side Daniel Lacey had the consolation of being named Man of the Match – a well deserved award.

Our 18 Super team reached the semi-final of the Leinster Youths Cup after a marathon game against Shelbourne that lasted two and a half hours on Saturday evening at the AUL Complex. Despite the squad being down to the bare bones due to injuries and containing four of our Under 16 squad the team were competitive throughout the game with us having two attempts cleared off the Shels line in the first half. Chances were few and far between in the second half and the game looked to be heading for extra time when in the fifth minute of injury time Jamie Gray headed home a corner from the right by Glen Reddy unfortunately the lead was short lived as a minute later Shelbourne broke away to equalise – so extra time it was after all.

In the seventh minute of the first half of extra time SKB goalkeeper Jordan Williamson was injured in a mid air collision and sustained severe concussion the game was held up for over 30 minutes waiting for an ambulance to arrive. When the game eventually restarted it was SKB who were quicker out of the blocks and went ahead on the stroke of half time in extra time when Stephen Duffy finished well from a tight angle. The last ten minutes was largely played out in the Shels half but without any major chances being created or conceded. Many thanks to Shelbourne F C staff for their assistance in helping to treat and comfort Jordan Williamson while awaiting the arrival of the ambulance.

Our two Under 11 teams had no joy in their respective cup finals on Saturday morning at the AUL Complex – the A side going down 0-2 to Crumlin United while the B team were surprisingly beaten 1-2 by Drogheda Boys – Gavin Lynch scoring the SKB goal.

Our 12 and 13 Premier kept up their league title challenges on track with wins over Cabinteely Boys (3-1) and Mount Merrion (12-0) respectively but our 14 Premier title hopes were dashed by St Josephs Boys who had the talented Glen McAuley to thank for two excellently taken goals in a 2-0 victory. Joeys take the title and SKB could be runners-up – a reversal of last years finishing places at Under 13.
