The Carnaval Cup tournament in Barcelona kicked off  on Friday morning with our under 13 premier team involved.

A 4-0 loss to top Belgian side KRC Genk was followed a few hours later with a much needed 2-0 win against local Catalan side CF Parets with Jamie Costigan and Will McCann the goalscorers. Their third group game against American side C E S A ended in a 1-0 defeat.

Those results put them into the last 16 of the Silver Cup knock out phase.

They defeated FC Granollers – coming from being 1 nil down at half time to equalise through Jamie Costigan and eventually come out on top 5-4 on penalties, Jamie Costigan, Jack Moore, Callum O’Brien, Will McCann and Mason O’Dowd scoring from the spot – to move into the last 8.

TEC Academy were the last 8 opponents and in this game the team produced probably their best performance so far winning 3-1 with Jamie Costigan again on the scoresheet with two goals – one a penalty – along with Mason O’Dowd.

The Silver cup semi-final game was a bridge too far as local side FC Tarragona proved stronger in a 2-0 win.
