A GOOD DAY IN SFAI CUP & TROPHY TIES

Despite the downpour this morning most of the SFAI cup and trophy ties involving SKFC went ahead and the games produced some excellent performances and results.

In the under 12 National Cup our under 12 Premier team turned a 2-0 league defeat away to Shamrock Rovers a fortnight ago into a 2-1 cup win today and move into the next round.

Not so fortunate were our under 11A side who were playing up a year – they went down 5-1 away to Mount Merrion under 12 Premier side.

Our Under 12.2 Sunday travelled to Cabinteely in the SFAI Trophy and a fine performance saw them win 3-1.

The under 13 Premier team returned to Pearse Park in Crumlin for the replay of the original National Cup tie which was abandoned out there a fortnight ago due to a serious knee injury to Jake Kavanagh with the score at 1-1. Today’s game was equally close with a late second half penalty giving us a 2-1 win.

Our Under 13 Major game in the SFAI Trophy was played in atrocious conditions at St.Aidan’s and credit to both teams for the game they provided with a goal in extra time giving Glasnevin a 3-2 win.

The Under 13 Sunday 1 SFAI Cup game away to Home Farm was cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch.

It took a long time for our Under 14 Premier team to get going in their National Cup game at Shanowen Road against Park Celtic but a strong second half performance saw them advance on a 6-1 scoreline.

Sundrive Park was another ground that was unplayable this morning, as was the majority of grass pitches in the city, so the 15 Premier SFAI Cup game against Lourdes Celtic was a casualty of the weather.

Also in the Under 15 Cup our Under 15 Major 1 team kept their interest alive in the competition with a fine win against premier league opponents away to Arthur Griffith Park. 2-2 at the end of extra time they prevailed 5-4 in the shoot-out.
