Weekend Report
Our under 10 A Saturday and Sunday teams got their first taste of tournament football when they travelled to take part in the inaugural Limerick I.T. – Aisling Annacotty Astro 8’s under 10 festival of football on Sunday at the Limerick Institute of Technology. Both teams were in seperate groups with group 1 comprising Aisling Annacotty, Corinthians Boys, Newbridge Town and SKB while group 2 contained Avenue United from Clare, Rockmount from Cork, Freebooters from Kilkenny and SKB. Having qualified for the semi finals both SKB teams faced one another in the first semi final which ended 1 – 1 with the Sunday team winning on penalties and they went on to win the final 2 – 1 against the home side Aisling Annacotty.
The SKB squads were: Squad 1 – David Corbett, Cian Darby, James McManus, Harvey Nugent, Luke Browne, Sean Phillips, Tadgh Lawlor, Jamie Kelly, Oisin Quinn, Sean Grehan and Callum Ralph.
Squad 2: Cameron Simpson, Craig Moore, Conor Rice, David Okergbuu, Keith Ross, Jamie Mullens, Callum Warren, Tadgh Walsh, Adam Coyle, Evan Ferguson and Eric Marku.
SKB Saturday 11A and SKB Saturday 11 A 1 produced an exciting DDSL quarter final cup tie on Saturday morning at the College of Surgeons with the A team getting through to the semi final on a 2-1 scoreline after a very close game. Our 12 Premier team exited the DDSL Kavanagh Cup following their 3-2 defeat in extra time at the hands of Shelbourne and we also relinquished our hold on the PFAI Under 17 Premier cup losing 4-0 to Crumlin United at the College of Surgeons on Sunday.
Also in the DDSL SSG cups over the weekend there were fine wins for the 11.2 Sunday (B1) 2-1 at home against Palmerstown F C and our 11.3 Saturday (B) 4-2 at home over Templeogue United. The DDSL quarter final under 11A cup tie away against Home Farm F C did not reach a conclusion as the referee abandoned the game following continued abuse from spectators on the home line.
Our first team’s run in the Leinster Junior Cup came to a halt on Sunday afternoon at Shanowen Road when they went down 4-1 to all conquering Sherriff United.
