Weekend Cup Results

Our 17 Premier booked a place in the quarter final of the FAI U17 Cup with a 5-0 win over Ballyraine FC from Donegal at St Aidans with goals from Thalaga Segoapa, Jack Mc Dermott, Fuhad Kareem, Logan O’Connell and Jack Allen.

Also through to the next round of the SFAI U12 Cup are our Saturday Premier team following their 3-1 win over Leicester Celtic but our 15 Premier failed in their effort to reach the last 32 when a late Home Farm goal proved the only goal of the game in a tight encounter.

Our 15 Major, 16 B1 and 12 Sunday 2  recorded wins in their respective SFAI Trophy Cup games but our 12 Sunday 1 team went out of the SFAI National Cup to a very strong Shamrock Rovers team.

Our Senior Sunday team kept up their push for promotion with a 2-2 away draw against promotion rivals Ayrefield United.

SKB Players Abroad – Progress Report

With the turn of the year and the deserved headlines that Evan Ferguson is making in the Premier league with his performances and goals for Brighton it’s worthwhile exercise to have a brief look at where some of our younger former players are at in their careers abroad having moved on from SKB.

No doubt the big headline maker is Evan Ferguson who made his full international debut in November and whose goals and performances for Brighton have captured everyone’s attention and rightly so.

Evan’s former team-mate at SKB Jamie Mullins has now joined up with him at Brighton and will be hoping to impress once he settles in.

Other former team-mates of theirs in what was an excellent SKB side – Sean Grehan and David Okagbue are both performing excellently at under 23 level at Crystal Palace and Stoke City respectively while Killian Phillips has gone on loan from Crystal Palace to Shrewsbury Town for the rest of the season.

Fiachra Pagel whose move to Blackpool last summer fell through has joined Forest Green Rovers and will be looking to make up for lost time while Bosun Lawel is a regular member of Celtic’s first team squad having already made his first team debut. Cian Kelly and Eric Yoro are making their way at Derby County and Bolton Wanderers.

Dara O’Shea has been a stand out performer for West Bromwich Albion for a couple of seasons now and he became the clubs youngest ever captain when appointed last season.

Dan Mandriou has overcome injury problems to become a first team regular at Lincoln City and will be hoping to break into the Irish international squad soon if he stays injury free. Dawson Devoy and Darragh Burns along with club captain Warren O’Hora are regulars at MK Dons.

With such a strong selection of centre backs avail to Stephe Kenny Jimmy Dunne can consider himself unlucky that his excellent performances for QPR have not been rewarded with a cap.

Gavin Kilkenny is on loan to Stoke City from Bournemouth where injuries have stalled his progress but Ross Tierney continues to impress as a first team regular with Motherwell FC.

Bristol Rovers is home to Trevor Clarke and Jamie Egan while in Italy Kevin Zefi continues his progress at Inter Milan and John Ryan recently joined Seria A club Sassuola.

We wish them all the best of luck and freedom from injury as they continue their careers.

Another days article will be tracking our ex-players playing in the League of Ireland.

Congratulations Evan Ferguson

Many congratulation to Evan Ferguson who tonight became the eleventh ex- SKB player to gain full international honours when he came on as a late substitute in Irelands 2-1 defeat to Norway at the Aviva Stadium thus becoming the youngest player to gain a full international cap for Ireland.

A proud night for Evan and his family and for the club as four SKB players were on the pitch in the Ireland side at the end of the game – Dara O’Shea Robbie Brady Jeff Hendrick and Evan.

Jamie Mullins Departs For Brighton

Everyone at SKB would like to wish Jamie Mullins the best of luck as he begins the next chapter of his footbal career at premier league club Brighton & Hove Albion on January 1st.

He joins his ex SKB team mate Evan Ferguson at the Seagulls with both having followed a similar pathway all the way from the SKB mini-leagues (little saints coaching academy) as five year olds through the age groups gaining league and cup honours as well as inter-league and international recognition along the way before making the move to national league football through our academy link with Bohemians where he became the youngest ever goalscorer in FAI Cup history with his strike against Longford Town last season.

Many of his team mates at his age group with SKB are now playing across channel – Ferguson, Sean Grehan (Crystal Palace) David Okagbue (Stoke City on Loan to Oldham Athletic) Cian Kelly (Derby County) while John Ryan recently left UCD to sample Italian football with Sassuolo, which proves what a talented group Karl Lambe, Rob Doran and Willy Burke among others helped develop.

SKB Receive Club Mark Award

We were delighted and proud to receive the FAI Club Mark award.

This could not be achieved without the dedication of all those who have worked tirelessly over the years to make the Club what it is today.

Thanks to all of the managers, coaches and other volunteers past and present who give of their time to provide football opportunities for hundreds of players weekly.

Thanks to Niall Keoghan from the FAI for dropping in and presenting the award to Sharon Mitchell who was responsible for collating and submitting all of the data necessary to gain this award.
