1st Team Win 3-1 V Donnycarny United

Our 1st team bounced back to form against Donnycarny United in their AUL Premier A League game tonight in Parnells as they put last Sunday’s poor result against Mountview firmly behind them with a fine performance full of pace and determination for the full ninty minutes and fully deserved the points with an emphatic 3-1 win.

The first goal arrived just on the half hour when Conor Dowler found Nathan West with a clever pass and the number10 lobbed the out rushing goalkeeper perfectly, the score was doubled early in the second half when Stephen Cantwell raced onto a through ball from Ross Harrison and fired in off the post.  An opportunity to go three in front went a’ begging when Nathan West missed a penalty when Jordan Cromwell was taken down by the ‘keeper but the third did eventually arrive when Cromwell scored with a fine header from a corner in the 85th minute. Donnycarny pulled a goal back direct from a corner in injury time but the points were already safe.

Starting 11; Hannon, Reynor, McGrath, McDonnell, Ellis, Pearson, Harrison, Dowler, Cantwell, West, Doyne.

SFAI Cup Success Today

Five SKB teams were involved in last 32 SFAI Cup action today at various venues spread throughout the country.

A superb strike after five minutes by Dylan Quinn was all that seperated our 12 Premier DDSL side today when they played Thomastown United away in the SFAI Danone Cup in a game played in sunny but very very windy conditions. It was a good all round team performance that dug out this win with centre backs Ronan Kilkenny and Chris Kenny to the fore in dealing capably with the Thomastown attack.

A bus breakdown in Fermoy did not interfere unduly with our 12 Premier NDSL side as they made the long trip to Clonakilty a winning one by beating Lyre Rovers 2-0 to join the 12 Premier DDSL in the last 16.

At Shanowen Road our 15 Premier DDSL team prooved too strong for Rathoath Harps in the SFAI Evans Cup winning 7-2 while our 16 Premier NDSL side reached the last 16 of the SFAI Barry Cup with a 2-1 win in Ramstown over Gorey Rangers.

Mervue United proved too strong for our 14 Premier NDSL side winning 2-0 at Fahys Field.

17 Super Reach FAI Quarter Final & Other Results

A goal up after one minute (Ross Nally) pegged back to 1-1 after four and back ahead 2-1 (Ross Coyle) before the tenth minute had elapsed such was the frantic opening exchanges of our Under 17 Super teams FAI last 16 game against Trim Celtic at the MDL Centre in Navan on Saturday.

Ross Nally got his second after twenty minutes to make it 3-1 and with the team producing some excellent football throughout further goals from Conor Kane, Liam Brady and Eoin Morgan before the break ended the game as a contest. The second half was even more one sided with Jamie Gray hitting the seventh ten minutes into the half, the score would have reached seriously embarrassing proportions only for the Trim Celtic goalkeeper who made a series of excellent stops and he along with some wayward finishing and the woodwork kept it down but still Ross Nally added three more to his tally (5) and Darragh Roycroft was rewarded for his hard work throughout the game with two to leave it 12-1 at the end.

The 13 Major got back to a good start after the Xmas break with a 4-3 home win over Peamount United at Ellenfield David Alaba (2) Callum Conneely and Tony Gallagher the scorers.

Eoin Greene got the all important goal as our 12 Premier secured an excellant 1-0 win over St Josephs Boys at Pearse Park.

Our 16 DDSL Premier team proved much to strong for Home Farm at Shanowen Road on Sunday winning 5-2 with goals from Dara O’Shea, Thomas Byrne, Mikey Cregan, Jamie Hamilton and Evan Pierce.

Good wins for our 15A (8-0) over Cambridge Boys and 16 Major (2-1) over St Malachys keeps them in the hunt for their respective league honours.

Our first team went down by the same score (5-2) away to Collinstown FC in a AUL Premier A league tie with new signing from Kilkenny Nathan West impressing scoring both goals on his debut.

St Pauls Artane take a 2-1 lead into the second leg of the AUL Myles O’Neill Cup following their game against our Senior Saturday side at the AUL Complex.

Daniel Bergin Hits 4 And Other SSG Results

Daniel Bergin did it again at the weekend for our 10A side with a quick fire hat trick on Sunday against Cambridge Boys with goals in the 1st, 6th and 11th minute and despite being moving from centre forward to right back for the 2nd half he popped up in the last minute of the game with a great run down the right wing and finished with a decent strike for his 4th goal and our 8th.

Our 11A Saturday and Sunday had impressive wins over Crumlin United (9-0) and Home Farm (7-0) to re enforce their position as one of the top teams at this age group in the city.

Lucan United inflicted a first defeat of the season on our 12A Saturday side with a 2-1 win at Ellenfield while our 12 Major conceded late goals going down to Home Farm (0-4)

1st Team Back In Form

Our 1st team recovered from last weeks heavy defeat to Sherriff Y C in the AUL Nivea Cup and moved into fourth place in the Premier A League table with a four goal victory over O’Devaney Dunard in Shanowen Road .

The early exchanges were pretty even up until Ross Harrison played Gavin Quinn in with a neat pass and Quinn took the ball around the Dunard keeper and finished superbly from a tight angle to break the deadlock after 25 minutes.

The advantage was doubled on 38 minutes when Ross Harrison was fouled in the box and  Peter O’Reilly scored the resulting penalty.

O’Devaney had a chance to halve the defecit five minutes into the second half when a penalty was awarded for hand ball in the Kevin’s area but the chance was missed with the penalty being put over the bar.

Sean Leavy then fired a screamer fifteen minutes into the second half to open up a three goal lead, before Stephen Cantwell finished the scoring from a penalty ten minutes from the end for his sixth league goal of the season.
