SFAI & DDSL CUP FIXTURES / RESULTS

More big games this weekend with our Under 16 Premier side playing away  yesterday in Clare at Bridge United in the SFAI Cup. It ended in convincing fashion as they ran out 5-0 winners to set up a semi final clash against local league rivals Crumlin United.

Our Under 17 Premier side were in St.Aidan’s yesterday afternoon against Aishling Annacotty in the Under 17 FAI Cup where they  kept their good run going on all cup fronts coming from a goal down to win eventually 5-1 and go on to a home game in the semi final against Douglas Hall from Cork.

In the DDSL Cups there wins for our 13 Premier team away to Shamrock Rovers (7-4) but disappointing defeats in extra time (1-2) for our Under 15 Premier team away to Malahide United – a team they had beaten 5-0 in the SFAI Cup last week – and our 12 Premier side (1-3) to Templeogue United who are becoming a bogey side for them having lost (0-1) to them last week in the SFAI Cup.

Our Under 15 girls team became the first girls’ team from the club to reach a DDSL Cup final when they came from 2 goals down to beat higher ranked Newbridge Town 3-2 this morning at Shanowen Road with the goals coming from……

On Friday night our Senior team went down narrowly (2-3) away to higher ranked Glebe North in the FAI Intermediate Cup where a number of injuries through the early part of the game severely disrupted their plans but it was a creditable performance that hopefully they will carry into their remaining league games as they seek promotion.

Two more big games today with our Under 12 Premier side playing away in Tymon Park against Templeogue United in the SFAI Cup. It ended in disappointing fashion though as only one goal seperated the teams in a close hard fought game where chances were few and far between.

Our Under 17 Premier side were in St.Aidan’s against Raheny United in the DDSL PFAI Cup and they kept their good run going running out 4-1 winners

Two brilliant National Cup wins this afternoon puts the club into two SFAI Cup semi-finals nextmonth.
Ringmahon Rangers in Cork always put up stiff resistance to visiting teams and our 13 premier team knew they were expecting a tough test but they rose to the challenge in fine style winning 5-0 with goals from Ollie (2) Max, Brody and Conor.
The turning point in the game was a fine penalty save by Senan with the score at 1-0 just before half-time and to add to the delight of the travelling fans another goal was added before the interval to consolidate things.
In St.Aidan’s there was a similar scoreline in the SFAI Under 15 Cup tie against Malahide Unitedwhere Dave Dunnes side reversed last years defeat in the SFAI CUP by the same opposition.
There was no danger of a similar result here as they were in control all through and now move on in attempting to keep the SFAI Under 15 Cup in the club’s trophy cabinet for another year.

Also in St.Aidan’s there was an excellent 6-3 win for our under 15 Major team in the DDSL ConwayCup against Larkview FC.

Please come out and give your support to all of our teams in what are all likely to be a tough series of games.

Good luck to all of our players & managers/coaches this weekend.
