SFAI SEMI-FINALS UPDATE
The semi finals of the SFAI Cup and Trophy competitions sees three of our teams in action today.
In the under 15 Cup our under 15’s faced an early start towards the Limerick / Kerry border to play Abbeyfeale United.
It turned out to be a typically tough cup semi-final tie that was only decided in the last ten minutes through goals from Cole Dillon and Martin Gomez to overcome the home sides resistance.
Templeogue United defeated Aisling Annacotty FC in the other semi-final.
In the SFAI Trophy our under 13’s were at home to Cork side Ringmahon Rangers and two goals in the first eight minutes from Alfie Dunne and Jamie Costigan from the penalty spot had them on the front foot and they eventually won 5-0 with second half goals from Jack Moore (2) and Mason O’Dowd.
Ashbourne United will be their final opponents.
The under 16’s made the journey to Carrick-on-Suir on the border of Tipperary and Waterford to play Carrick United in a game that turned out to be contentious and controversial – a right battle.
Mark Tierney’s team were three goals up through Jimmy Cassidy (2) and Tomas Stokas before controversary arose when Carrick United pulled a goal back and a player from each side was dismissed.
A chaotic final fifteen minutes saw the score cut to 3-2 and with 13 minutes additional time added on at the end this led to angry scenes at the finish but 3-2 it stayed and a place in the final secured.
The SKFC bus had windows broken and some parents cars were damaged which was not what one likes to witness at a schoolboy football game.
