ST. KEVIN’S TEAMS REACH DDSL CUP FINALS

A cracking volleyed goal from outside the box from Ryan Cullen was the deciding factor in our under 14 Sunday 1 sides win away to Ballyoulster United in the semi-final of the DDSL O’Neills Cup and making them the fifth SKFC team to book their place at the DDSL Cup finals weekend in four weeks time.

The Graham Mooney and Mark Somers managed under 13.6 team became the fourth team from the club to reach a final this season when they came away from Malahide Castle with a 2-1 win against Malahide United in the semi-final of the DDSL Matty Langan Cup with Trevon Akahomen and Preston Powell getting the all important goals.

The honour of being the first SKFC to qualify for a DDSL Cup final this season falls to our under 12 major team who came from behind to beat Newbridge Town 4-2 after extra time in the semi final of the DDSL Tony Ryan Cup on Saturday at St. Aidan’s – the goals coming from Charlie Dunne David Marinskas Keane Reilly and Alex Smyth.

Cherry Orchard or Cambridge will be their final opponents.

Our under 15 premier team kept their season moving along nicely with an emphatic 3-0 win against Shelbourne FC in the semi final of the DDSL Under 15 Menton Cup with a first half goal from Matthew Awolowo and two late in the second half from Martin Gomez.  Belvedere fc will be their final opponents while next week they travel to Abbeyfeale United in the semi final of the SFAI Cup and are well placed in the DDSL premier league.

Out in Malahide on Saturday our under 14 premier team produced a solid team performance to reach the final of the oldest DDSL Cup competition – The Thunder Cup – when beating a strong Malahide United side 2-0 with goals from Tyler Fitzpatrick and Ryan Donovan and to also gain compensation for the defeat to Malahide in the last 16 of the SFAI Cup last month. Belvedere FC or St Josephs AFC will be their opposition in the final.

Congratulations to those five squads and their management groups in getting to their respective finals and hopefully they will be joined by other SKFC teams in the coming weeks for the finals on the May bank holiday weekend.
